We’re sure you already know that it’s important to have an online presence. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media sites are a good place to start, but to stay in control of your reach and your online reputation, it’s a good idea to get yourself a website for your Yoga business.

Getting a website of your own can feel daunting if your technical skills are limited, and hiring a web designer can be expensive, but if you’re willing to put in a little time it’s possible to create a good looking website for free.

Whilst most of the free website builders we’re about to mention will include a free domain name, they’re often hard to remember, or contain the branding of the site builder, to create a professional image we recommend buying your own domain name. Somewhere like Fasthosts or GoDaddy make this very simple and it’s relatively inexpensive.

Here are our top places to get yourself a professional looking website, without paying a designer.

4 Places to Get a Free Website for your Yoga Business

WordPress comes in 2 different forms. If you’re ready to pay for web hosting (which can cost as little as £2 or £3 a month), then WordPress.org offers much more flexibility. If you’re just starting out and want something simple, then WordPress.com will walk you through setting up a site, step by step.

You can get a free domain name if you’re willing to keep wordpress.com at the end of your name, or connect one of your own.

Keep it simple by choosing a pre-built theme, and then add pages with information about your classes and contact details. WordPress is a blogging platform, so most of the basic themes will have a blog as your front page, but you can use this to your advantage to keep students up to date with your news, or just enter one blog post that works as a front page with a bit of information about your classes and where to find you.

It’s easy to add more details, like your own logo and photos, or you can stick with the stock options offered by WordPress for a website that still looks slick and professional. If you need to upgrade to a more advanced theme or need more online storage then WordPress offers upgraded packages.

Wix is perfect for someone with no experience building a website. Its user-friendly interface walks you through the creation of your site step by step, even allowing you to chose “Yoga Instructor” as your business type and chose a colour palette created from your logo.

Wix comes with a number of built-in apps, including a “book now” app, which can allow you to take bookings for your classes online.

The advantage of Wix is that telling it your business type provides you with a website that is pre-filled with Yoga specific pages. You just need to edit the content to suit your business.

Wix also offers upgraded options with more storage, and analytics options if you need to see how many visitors your site is getting and where they are coming from.

Google is very keen for as many businesses to be online as possible, and it has tools to help you get there, including building a free website.

The free website builder is based on creating a business listing, so you will need to enter a physical address for your listing, and be able to confirm that address by having a postcard mailed to you. There is the option of hiding your address from customers if you work from your own home or from a variety of studios.

The end product website is a basic one page with a large cover photo that you can select yourself. Your business details and a map of the area you cover are included, as well as a Contact Us button.

There are options to add news posts and events to your website, and you could add classes and include a booking link to elsewhere on the web, such as a site like Eventbrite, or even a Facebook events page.

As with most free options, a very clunky and long winded web address is provided, but there is the option to buy your own domain name.

Our final recommendation for getting yourself a free website for your yoga business is Weebly.

Weebly offers a simple drag and drop interface to edit your site. Simply add blocks for content such as a newsletter sign up, pictures and video. It includes stock photos for you to use, and up to 3 pages for free, so you could create an about page, and a listings page for classes.

There are several pre-built themes to chose from, including some Yoga specific ones and you can even include an online shop.

Free domain names are available, with weebly branding, or you can add your own.
